A 24-year-old TikTok influencer, Aderonke Ajibade, popularly known as Sexy one-legged babe, has revealed how she lost her leg to an accident that resulted in her doing four surgeries.

Ajibade, in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH on Sunday, said when she received the news of her amputation with joy at Igbobi Hospital after she had gone through months of pain while trying to seek traditional medication for her leg that got broken in an accident.

She claimed to be an indigene of Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State and also a former student of Ilaro Polytechnic.

Narrating her ordeal, the amputee said, “I boarded a bike (motorcycle) to my hostel from school after class. On my way, a car knocked down the bike, and my leg was shattered. People were seeking help on my behalf. I was rushed to the Ilaro General Hospital. They insisted on cutting my leg there, but I opposed it, and this led us to seek the traditional healer’s help. But it kept on getting worse, and the leg was gradually decaying.

“After a while, I noticed my leg was not getting better. We proceeded to National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, in Lagos State. I got there at night, and that was when I was informed that my leg would be amputated. I was lost and had no choice but to accept my fate. Deep down, I was actually happy because I had been in pain since the incident happened because I believed that they were going to give me a new life.

“I called the man that hit me and informed him of the development. I only want him to say sorry for what he made me go through. Although he tried his best to pay for some of my medical bills before I got to Igbobi, he never showed up again upon hearing that my leg was going to be amputated. I almost committed suicide seeing my old pictures where I had two legs.

“I was depressed, I had to inform people about my ordeal. I called for donations many times because the bills were too much. But the saddest thing was seeing the people I trusted and loved leave me because of my condition. My boyfriend left me immediately after I informed him about it, although, I was not expecting him to still date me, but at least coming to see me would have made a lot of difference. Even my friends, and honestly, I understand,” she retorted.

Regarding why she dropped out of school, Ajibade said the endless surgeries made her opt out of furthering her education in Ilaro.

She maintained that this led to her learning how to make hair and devising means to produce braided wigs for her prospective clients while motivating people to never give up, irrespective of the situation that they are in.
