After weeks of elongated confrontation, Imo PDP has eventually eaten a humble pie
- The opposition party has presented two vehicles given to it by Emeka Ihedioha administration to the current state government
- The vehicles, a black Innoson and white JAC, were returned back to Hope Uzodinma government on Wednesday
The Imo chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has finally taken a humble pie as the opposition party returned the two vehicles said to belong to the state government.
The vehicles, a black Innoson and white JAC, were reportedly donated by the former governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, for the activities of the party.
But upon the ascendency of Hope Uzodinma as the governor following a Supreme Court judgement that ruled in favour of the ruling party as per the 2019 guber election in the state, Imo government demanded the prompt return of vehicles.
Governor Uzodinma mandated PDP to hand over the vehicles to the appropriate authority on the ground that they are government’s properties.
The vehicles, a black Innoson and white JAC, were returned back to Hope Uzodinma government on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, June 9, the leaders of the opposition party, who beforehand tackled Governor Uzodinma, made a U-turn and returned the two buses to its office located at Okigwe road in Owerri.
The cars were later picked up by the government but not without slight objections by some members of the party in Imo state, Vanguard reports.
Damian Opara, former scribe of the party, in a reaction accused the state government of peddling fake news, adding that the vehicles were not directly donated by the immediate government to the party.
He further explained that the said vehicles were rather given to the appointees of the former government.
“The two vehicles recovered at the PDP office by Imo State Government Taskforce was never a gift or a donation by the past PDP Government to Imo State Chapter of PDP,” Opara said.
