The Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji Daud Akinola, on Friday, called on the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, deploy necessary assistance through the Oyo State Government to the victims of last Tuesday’s explosion in Ibadan to ameliorate their sufferings.

Five people lost their lives, 77 people sustained various degrees of injury and 58 houses were badly affected in the explosion that rocked Adeyi area, Old Bodija in Ibadan, last Tuesday night.

Akinola, who led other Islamic faithful to the scene of the blast, frowned at the activities of the foreigners allegedly fingered in the Ibadan explosion. At the site of the incident, Aare Musulumi said, “This is devastating. I, therefore, want to passionately appeal to the Federal Government and our dear President, Senator Bola Tinubu, to please, come to the aid of these people, I mean the victims.

“The government should deploy necessary assistance to them through our able Governor Makinde. I pray God not to let us witness such a terrible situation again in Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.

“Secondly, I want to also call for a thorough investigation to unravel the activities of these illegal miners that kept explosive materials in the residential estate.”

The Muslim leader, therefore, commended the State Governor, Seyi Makinde for prompt action when the incident happened.

On his entourage were the Iyalaje Adeen of Yorubaland, Alhaja Sidikat Aderibigbe; Asiwaju Adeen of Oyo State, Alhaji Mutiu Onimalu; Babasale Musulumi of Ibadanland, Chief Nureni Akanbi; the state Chairman, Muslim Community, Chief Bayo Oyero, Babaloja General, Alhaji Yekeen Abass and host of other Muslim leaders.
