Juventus’ squad have all entered voluntary isolation after midfielder Weston McKennie tested positive for Covid-19, just 24 hours after Cristiano Ronaldo returned a positive test while on international duty with Portugal.
The United States international, who joined the club this summer from German side Schalke, was the only player to turn up a positive result in the latest round of testing.
As a precautionary measure ahead of a weekend game against Crotone, the entire first-team squad will now isolate.
A Juventus statement read: ‘Juventus Football Club announces that, during the checks provided for by the protocol in force, the player Weston McKennie has tested positive for Covid 19,’ the official statement reads.
‘In compliance with the regulations and the protocol, the team entered into fiduciary isolation this evening.
‘This procedure will allow all persons negative to the controls to carry out regular training and match activities, but will not allow contact with people outside of the group.
‘The Club is in constant contact with the competent health authorities.’
