As John Lewis shares their latest heartwarming Christmas advert, ‘Give A Little Love’ we take a look at what happened to the star of their 2011 offering, ‘The Long Wait’
Last year’s focused on young Edgar the dragon and before that it was a look at Elton John’s journey to become a star after being gifted a piano.
We’re talking of course about John Lewis adverts, which never fail to get us in the festive spirit.
One of the most memorable ones for many was from 2011 which saw a cute little boy, waiting patiently for Christmas to finally arrive, counting down the days in ‘The Long Wait’.
The 90-second ad tricked everyone into thinking the child was eagerly waiting to open his presents after a visit from Santa, when in fact he just wanted to give out some gifts he had bought for his nearest and dearest.
It’s been nine years since the advert first hit our screens and during that time its star has been very busy.
Lewis McGowan, the boy who endured the long wait, is now completely unrecognisable and has gone on to have roles in several big movies and TV shows.
Most notably, the 15-year-old has appeared alongside Orlando Bloom in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
McGowan played Henry Turner in the 2017 blockbuster, who is the son of Bloom’s character, Will Turner.
The young actor has also worked on episodes of Doctor Who, Netflix’s The Alienist: The Angel of Darkness and Houdini and Doyle.
