Lizzo is opening up about the public’s perception of her.
In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1,the singer/rapper — whose real name is Melissa Jefferson — reflected on what she’s learned throughout her career.
“You know what I realized? Nobody really knows me. If it’s easy for you to think just anything about me, then you don’t really know me,” Lizzo, 36, told the host.

She added: “I think people have been distracted, and keeping it real, I think they’ve been distracted by the way that I look. I think they’ve been distracted by my joy that I exude. I think that they don’t understand it. Where I thought people got me, they really didn’t.”
Lizzo also noted that she’s “changed” and had “promised to change.”
“I am the best version of Melissa ‘Lizzo’ Jefferson right now,’ said the “About Damn Time” musician. “Not because of anything external or superficial, but because of the work that I’ve done on myself as a human being and the life that I’ve lived.”
Lizzo continued: “I’m really proud of this version of myself. I cannot wait to just show her to the world and for people to get to know me for real this time.”
On Thursday, March 13, the “Good as Hell” hitmaker released her latest single “Still Bad.”

In the spooky visual, Lizzo can be seen dancing with zombies and getting a bucket of something resembling blood thrown on her. Later, she walks throughout an enchanted forest in a red latex as she’s followed by haunted creatures.
Just like the “Love in Real Life” video, Lizzo ends up dancing with the aforementioned critters.
Earlier this month, Lizzo showed off her weight loss transformation.
She proudly highlighted her new, slimmer figure while showing off her oufit during a Twitch video livestream.
In response to someone’s comment that she “looked good,” Lizzo showcased her full ensemble, which included a black top with light-colored jeans and a silver cross pendant necklace — along with her shapewear brand Yitty.
“You already know I’m in that Yitty,” she told viewers, before turning her body to show off her behind and adjusting the waistline of her jeans. She then proceeded to dance for the camera, moving her hips from side to side.
Last month, she also showed off her new figure — which she previously describes as her “weight release” — in a mirror selfie she took on Instagram, where she posed in a black bra with matching underwear, along with gold hoop earrings and light makeup.
