From inking her first record deal at 13 and essaying love’s emotional roller coaster a couple years ago in “Sober,” Mahalia has accomplished a lot so far. Now, at 20, the British singer unites all her experiences to rep a new sense of self on her forthcoming debut album. Influenced by Erykah Badu and collaborating with producer Nineteen85 (Drake’s “Hotline Bling”), among others, Mahalia’s languid vocals top off a jazzy R&B base, forging a sound that’s all her own. Vevo proudly reconnected with our DSCVR alum to film a pair of cool performances, “Do Not Disturb” and “Honeymoon.”
