A 20-year-old man is recovering from his injuries following a motorcycle crash on a Wisconsin highway.

Alex Giezma drifted off Interstate 43 and crashed into a ditch at approximately 11 p.m. on Sept. 3, according to a Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department crash report obtained by ABC affiliate WISN.

The next morning, over 12 hours later, two good Samaritans found Giezma and he was transported to a local hospital, his sister, Kelly Giezma, told NBC affiliate WTMJ.

Citing the crash report, WISN reported that the Wisconsin man was traveling about 85 mph in a 70 mph zone when he lost sight of the highway that night, and that he was wearing a tinted visor at the time.

His father, Dale, told WISN that he feared the worst when he was unable to reach Alex.

“I call him like every hour,” Dale told the station. “He wasn’t answering, so I talked to work, and we work at the same company to see if he showed up to work, and they said he didn’t.”

Alex, who broke his arm and ribs in the crash, now faces a long road to recovery, according to WISN.

“Alex will be in the hospital/rehab for a few months,” his sister wrote in a message on a GoFundMe she set up. “We are asking for any help with these unexpected medical bills cost, specially as they start to pile up from how severe his injuries actually are.”

“He doesn’t have feeling from the waist down because he hurt his spine,” added Alex’s sister, per NBC affiliate WTMJ.

Overall, the family is just grateful to the individuals who stopped and saved his life.

“I’m happy that he’s alive and that somebody stopped,” Kelly told WTMJ. “Because you just don’t know.
