Ondo state’s police command has arraigned a 30-year-old man, Sola Ayemibo, for killing his neighbour, Olawale Bello, and stealing his motorcycle.
The suspect who reportedly committed the act on October 11, 2023, at about 8:30 pm in the Adegbemile area of Akure, was arrested after the mother of the deceased mentioned his name as the one responsible for her son’s death.
He was arraigned before the Akure Chief Magistrate Court on two counts of robbery and murder. Police prosecutor, Inspector Nelson Akintimehin, told the court that the defendant killed the motorcyclist after robbing him of his TVS motorcycle.
The offence contravened Sections 316 and 402 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2016.
The presiding Magistrate, Musa Al-Yunus who did not take the defendant’s plea, remanded him in prison custody pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions. The case was adjourned till March 14, 2024, for mentioning.
