A man has revealed the months of planning that went into the “perfect” marriage proposal at The Rink at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
Barrington, who is @barrington_14 on TikTok, shared footage of his girlfriend, Kennedy, struggling to balance on ice skates at their local rink and revealed that he had sneakily suggested they go there to practice ahead of their N.Y.C. trip — without telling her he had a romantic gesture up his sleeve.
“We got off to a rough start but after a bit of time on the ice, I felt confident in her ability on skates to book the rink at the Rockefeller Center,” read the text over the video.
Barrington said the weather was “terrible” on the day he had booked, but he managed to convince Kennedy to “do a couple laps” on the ice.

In the video, she confessed to being “nervous,” and they were seen clinging to the wall while other skaters whizzed around the rink.
“The weather was truly a fiasco Kennedy wanted to get off the ice asap, so I just kept stalling until they cleared the ice for us,” the text over the video continued. “All of the practice came down to this moment, I just wanted to get us to the center of the ice.”
Barrington is seen in the video reassuring Kennedy that she won’t fall as they skate toward the middle of the ice with the Christmas tree illuminated behind them.
Beyonce’s “Dangerously in Love” played loudly before he pulled a ring from his pocket and got down on one knee to propose.
“Everything worked out perfectly, I’m glad I trusted my gut,” the text read, before cutting to footage of Kennedy in tears of joy.

Barrington revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter), that he got the proposal idea after discussing earlier in the year plans to visit Rockefeller Center on their trip.
He shared screenshots of their text messages joking about getting injured because neither one of them knew how to ice skate.
Commenters congratulated the couple with many confessing the effort he put into the proposal had brought them to tears.
“This was definitely one of the best proposals I’ve seen! Between the effort you put in to teach her, to the location, to her reaction!!! Congratulations you guys,” one person wrote.
“Teaching her a whole new skills just to get the proposal to go smoothly is next level genius planning. You two are gonna be unstoppable,” another said.
“I never cry at other people’s proposals but the thought, intention and confidence you put into this and her omg. This was beautiful,” a third penned.
“We’re sobbing congrats!!” Rockefeller Center’s account commented.
“Thanks for everything! Your team really made the moment special,” Barrington replied.
