Maryland Prison Inmate Suspected of Killing Another Prisoner Inside Cell

A Maryland prison inmate is accused of killing another prisoner, authorities said.

Robert Warren, 28, was pronounced dead in his cell at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Md., on Monday, Nov. 25, according to a press release from Maryland State Police. 

Police said an autopsy determined Warren’s death was a homicide, however, a cause of death has not been shared.

Warren’s suspected killer is another inmate serving time at the prison, per the release.

The suspect’s name has not been released since criminal charges have yet to be filed, according to police.

The death is being investigated by the Maryland State Police’s Homicide Unit, and help is being provided by State Police crime scene technicians and investigators with the DPSCS Internal Investigative Unit.

“Upon completion, the investigation will be presented to the Allegany County State’s Attorney’s Office for review regarding charges,” police said.

Further details surrounding the case have not been made public by authorities.
