Mauricio Umansky has stepped forward to address the controversy surrounding his recent revelations about his rift with the Hilton family, following a teaser for Netflix’s Buying Beverly Hills.

In the preview, Umansky, who departed Hilton & Hyland to establish his own real estate company, The Agency, candidly discussed his departure, citing his desire for equity and partnership within the Hilton firm. He expressed feeling marginalized and ultimately decided to venture out independently, a move that evidently caused friction within the Hilton family.

Paris Hilton, daughter of Rick Hilton, swiftly responded to the teaser on social media, expressing her disapproval of Umansky’s remarks. In a reply to the Instagram fan account, Queens of Bravo, she defended her father, stating, “My father is a consummate gentleman and has always taken the higher road. He would never speak negatively about his family — especially in the press.”

In an exclusive interview with 360aproko Brice Sander, Umansky addressed the backlash, acknowledging Hilton’s reaction. “Look, it’s sad that she got so upset about that, but at the end of the day, it’s two businessmen making two business decisions,” he said.

“I felt like I deserved something. I asked for something, he didn’t want to do it, and then I chose to go off on my own. I wanted to take care of my family, I wanted to be successful, I wanted to go forward, I wanted to do the most I could, and at the end of the day, I made that decision just to go forward with this thing. There is certainly no bad blood on my side.”

The familial dynamics further complicate the situation, as Umanksy is married to Kyle Richards, sister to Kathy Hilton and aunt to Paris. The rift between the Umanskys and the Hiltons has been a recurring theme on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but the depth of the conflict is now being explored in the Netflix reality series.

Season 2 of Buying Beverly Hills is set to drop March 22 on Netflix.
