The Yoruba World Congress has said that some unnamed sponsors of Miyetti Allah are calling for war in Nigeria

  • The Yoruba group was reacting to a statement by the president of Miyetti Allah Kautal H*ore, Bodejo, claiming that the Fulani own Nigeria and will rule forever
  • YWC condemned the statement just as it called on President Buhari to use his constitutional powers to stop any deviant fanning the embers of disunity in the country

The Yoruba World Congress (YWC) led by Professor Banji Akintoye has said the unnamed sponsors of the Miyetti Allah are calling for war in Nigeria.

ThisDay reports that the organisation condemned a recent statement credited to the national president of Miyetti Allah Kautal H*ore, Bello Abdullahi Bodejo.

Bodejo had said that said the Fulani own Nigeria. In an interview with The Sun, Bodejo said the Fulani race will continue to rule the country forever.

According to him, the Fulani race produced Nigeria and there is no place where people will try to drive them away.

Bodejo insisted that they don’t need anybody’s approval or permission to occupy any land in any part of the country.

However, the YWC in a statement by its director of communications, Moses Jolayemi, urged Nigerians to ignore the Miyetti Allah leader.

Jolayemi said the YWC had waited for Bodejo to retract the statement which he described as highly explosive and inflammatory.

The YWC spokesman said not retracting the statement means Bodejo and his sponsors are determined to plunge the country into a needless war.

The YWC urged all Yoruba people to join the call for a free and equitable country where no ethnic or religious group is lord over the others.

It also wondered why the federal government has not reacted to the statement made by the Miyetti Allah.

The group, therefore, urged President Buhari to call the Miyetti Allah group to order to demonstrate that he is genuinely interested in the peace and unity of Nigeria.

It also advised the president to use his constitutional powers to stop any group fanning the embers of disunity in the country.
