Muslims to continue fasting as new moon has not yet been sighted

Muslims in Nigeria are to continue fasting till tomorrow May 23 as the new moon which signifies the end of Ramadan was not sighted this evening May 22.

Many Muslims had thought today will be the end of the fast and tomorrow will be Eid Fitri celebration which signifies the end of the fast.

However, the fasting continues tomorrow May 23 while the Eid Fitri celebration is expected to now hold on Sunday May 24. This is according to the National Moonsighting Committee Nigeria

There was no positive sighting report of the Shawwal crescent in Nigeria, tomorrow is 30th Ramadan. An official statement from the Sultanate will be released shortly.
