Taylor Swift’s NFL appearances have worked all too well at bringing fathers and daughters together — Nick Lacheyincluded.

The 98 Degrees singer revealed in an interview with 360aproko that he has the world-famous performer to thank for his 9-year-old daughter, Brooklyn’s, interest in football.

“You know what’s amazing is my daughter never, ever wanted to watch a football game with dad,” he told 360aproko Nichelle Turner at the Fanatics party on Saturday at the Marquee Club in Las Vegas ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl. “Now she will sit and she said, ‘Have they shown Taylor yet? Have they shown Taylor yet?’ I was like, ‘No, not yet. Oh, he scored. Come on baby. ‘”

Added Vanessa Lachey, “She’s also watching the game with daddy.”

“Look, I would watch any football game anyway,” Nick noted, “but I understand and appreciate what [Taylor’s] brought to football this year and to the NFL and look, who isn’t a Taylor Swift fan?”

Indeed, Swift’s pop music world collided with professional football this year thanks to her new romance with tight end Travis Kelce, whose Kansas City Chiefs scored their third Super Bowl victory in five yearson Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. She became a frequent face in the stands throughout the season, often bringing along famous friends and mingling with Kelce’s beloved family in front of the cameras. Thanks to her dedicated fanbase of millions of Swifties paired with Kelce’s supporters, fervor over Swift and her famous new boyfriend reached a fever pitch — or should we say touchdown?

While it’s unclear just how much of a role the Taylor Swift effect played on viewership, CBS Sports announced on Tuesday that the Super Bowl LVIII was the most-watched telecast in history with 123.4 million viewers across platforms and was the most-streamed Super Bowl in history. Plus, it was the most-watched regular season since the NFL returned to CBS in 1998 and the network’s best postseason viewership since 1998.
