Drake Bell – who found fame on Nickelodeon sitcom Drake & Josh – has reportedly been arrested and charged with attempted child endangerment
Drake & Josh TV star Drake Bell has been arrested and charged with attempted child endangerment.
The 34-year-old actor – who rose to fame on the Nickelodeon sitcom in his teens – is facing charges of attempted endangering children and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, reports claim.
Drake – full name Jared Drake Bell – allegedly made the offence in December 2017.
News 5 Cleveland, a local ABC affiliate, report that he was indicted by a grand jury in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
Drake has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is free on a $2,500 bond.
According to Fox 8 in Cleveland, Bell allegedly engaged in an inappropriate chat with a minor that “at times, was sexual in nature.”
In Touch Weekly report that his lawyer told them that “the facts will be revealed in the courtroom.”
It is understood that he due back in court later this month for a pre-trial hearing.
The Mirror have contacted a representative for Drake Bell for comment.
In 2016, Drake was sentenced to 96 hours in jail following a DUI conviction.
He reportedly took a plea deal following the misdemeanour charge brought against him by the Los Angeles District Attorney, stemming from an incident on December 21 2015.
E! News reported at the time that the comedian was also sentenced to four years probation following his arrest late last year for driving under the influence in Glendale, California.
At the time, TMZ said that Drake was driving at 55km an hour in a 35 zone.
Glendale Police spokesperson Tahnee Lightfoot said at the time that officers “smelled an odour of alcohol” on the 29-year-old actor so administered a sobriety test, which Drake “did not satisfactorily complete”.
He was also charged with a DUI back in 2009 in San Diego.
