Offset was briefly detained by police officers during his Instagram Live on Saturday. In a statement to 360 aproko on Sunday, the rapper’s rep said he “thanks his fans for their support.”
“Artist and philanthropist Offset was detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department following an attack by aggressive Trump supporters. He was released shortly thereafter,” says Offset’s rep, Derrian Perry. “Offset thanks his fans for their support and wishes everyone peace and safety during these trying times. He encourages everyone to get out and vote because nothing changes if nothing changes.” null
Perry also notes that Offset followed and complied while guns were drawn on him, and says the rapper received conflicting directions from the officers. He adds that Offset’s current focus is encouraging younger voters to get to the polls.
In a clip shared online on Saturday, an officer can be heard asking Offset to step out of the vehicle. “I’m not doing that, I’m not doing that. Because you’ve got guns out,” Offset says, with the officer replying, “That’s my choice.”null
“I’m not going to move my hands from my steering wheel,” Offset then says, as a female officer tells him that they were told that he was “waving guns.”
“You know who I am? Offset from the Migos. They got fans, that’s why they’re following me,” the rapper replies.
However, the female officer states, “That has nothing to do with why we’re here. We were told that you guys were waving guns at people.”
Offset then claims that they “watched somebody beat my car up with a flag.”
A male officer then tells him to step out of the vehicle and puts his hand in the car to unlock the door. As Offset tells him he can’t do that and that he will sue them, he is pulled from his car.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/index.html?creatorScreenName=Liz%20Calvario%E2%80%8D&dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-0&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1320157333259956225&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etonline.com%2Foffset-detained-by-police-during-his-instagram-live-155336&siteScreenName=etnow&siteUserId=23603092&theme=light&widgetsVersion=ed20a2b%3A1601588405575&width=550px
