The explosion which killed five children and injured six others on a farm in Malumfashi town of Katsina State on Saturday July 18, has been linked to an exposed military grenade.
A statement released by the command’s spokesman Gambo Isah, revealed that the five children who are siblings were fiddling with the device found on a farm, when it exploded. Isah added that investigation is ongoing.
“Investigation revealed that the children picked a military grenade and were fiddling with it and as a result, it exploded.
“Scene has been preserved while detectives from EOD and CID are presently conducting their investigations. Investigation is ongoing, please.” Isah said
Meanwhile, the remains of the victims were buried on Saturday July 18, while the six other children injured in the incident are still receiving treatments at the Malumfashi General Hospital.
