The FCT Police Command on Saturday confirmed it deployed intelligence officers to the Banex area of Wuse, Abuja where electronics and communications/phone gadgets are sold, as a result of an altercation that ensued between some soldiers and traders.
Following the apprehension caused by the confrontation over an issue with a mobile phone, the Spokesman of the command, SP Josephine Adeh said “The Commissioner of Police, CP Beneth Igweh has deployed officers of the FCT Intelligence Response Team to the scene of the incident”.
The action was brought to public knowledge in a viral video on X on Saturday showing a multitude of civilians overpowering some soldiers during a free-for-all fight at Banex
Sources said the conflict was sparked off when the soldiers returned a phone bought earlier over some technical fault and demanded a refund of the money paid for the phone resulting in arguments and fracas
