Ms. Janice Charette, High Commissioner in Canada to the UK as well as staff to thank them for the warm Canadian hospitality and support they received during their recent stay in Canada. Following their meeting with the High Commissioner, Their Royal Highnesses will visit the Canada Gallery and view a special exhibition by Indigenous Canadian artist, Skawennati. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also meet different members of the High Commission team who work in a range of sectors supporting the partnership between Canada and the UK. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last visited Canada House on Commonwealth Day in March 2019 where they met and spoke with young Canadians from a wide range of sectors including fashion, the arts, and business and academia, about their experiences as expats as well as opportunities for young people working in the Commonwealth.
The Defence Headquarters ( DHQ) has expressed its honour and delight for the acceptance of the Duke of Duchess, His Royal Highness, Prince Harry and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan to visit Nigeria in May, 2024.
During their stay in the country, they will be meeting with Service members and will be hosted to arrays of cultural activities.
It would be recalled that Prince Harry, the Duke of Duchess founded the Invictus games an international multi- sporting event which offers recovery pathway for international wounded, injured and sick service men and women.
It also gives soldiers awareness and recognition in society to support their path in rehabilitation.
The Invictus games has about 500 participants at the last outing and 21 nations in attendance, including Nigeria which made a head way with gold and silver at it’s first outing last year.
A statement by Brig Gen Tukur Vusau, Acting Director of Defence Information said, “The visit is to consolidate Nigeria strong hold at the game and the possibility of hosting the event in later years”.
“The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Badaru who was at Germany at last year’s event, has accepted to host the games when granted to Nigeria.”
