Rivers varsity suspends three students over alleged robbery, cultism and unlawful possession of firearms

The Management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rivers State, has suspended three students from studies over attempted robbery, unlawful possession of arms and cultism.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, August 27, said the students are suspended pending the outcome of the investigation of their matters by the Students Disciplinary Committtee. 

According to the statement, a student Nwankwo Sunday Gift – UE/2018/POL. SC/B.Sc.ED4/0852 – Dept. of Pol. Sc, was suspended for unlawful possession of locally made pistol and attempted robbery of his fellow student’s mobile phone at gunpoint. 

“Okwe Michael Amaogechi – U/2019/5848 – Dept. of G & C – unlawful possession of locally made pistol and attempted robbery of his fellow student’s mobile phone at gunpoint,” 

“George ThankGod Tamunoimana – UE/2018/COMP/B.Sc.ED4/0201 – Dept. of Computer Sc. attacked and caused bodily harm to one of his fellow students with his gang suspected to be cultists.” 

Ndimele said that the three students have been handed over to State SIIB. 

“Their names have been submitted to DSS for profiling. Please stay out of trouble.” the VC added.
