A judge who denied Sean “Diddy” Combsbail is no longer assigned to the music mogul’s federal sex trafficking case.
Combs’ case was reassigned on Oct. 3 to Judge Arun Subramanian, who replaces Andrew L. Carter Jr. as the judge overseeing the case, according to court records viewed by us.
During Combs’ Sept. 18 bail hearing, Carter said he would send the case to another judge if he was unable to accommodate a trial date with the Bad Boy Records founder, who declined to waive his right to a speedy trial.
Combs is charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution following an indictment unsealed in federal court on Sept. 17.
The indictment alleges that Combs would use “force, threats of force and coercion” in order to get women to participate in the “freak offs,” which prosecutors describe as elaborate sex performances with male sex workers.
Combs pleaded not guilty to all the charges, but he was denied bail at his arraignment and again after appeal.
When denying Combs bail, Judge Carter claimed “there is no condition or combination of conditions to ensure he will not obstruct justice or tamper with witnesses.”
The mogul is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
In addition to the criminal charges against him, Combs also faces multiple civil suits in which he’s accused of sex abuse.
