They were reported missing on Sunday, Aug. 25, after one of their neighbors grew concerned about their whereabouts after Stephanie and Daniel weren’t getting ready for church as they typically did.

The neighbor “went inside their home to see if they would be okay inside and they didn’t find them in there,” Sandy Marinelli, one of the couple’s close friends, told KCBS-TV. “But, they found Stephanie’s purse was in there, cane was in there. … TV was left on, computer was left on, it was just very suspicious for them to be gone.”

The Redlands Police Department confirmed that Stephanie’s purse was found inside their residence “along with her and Daniel’s cell phones.”

The department states that Daniel has dementia and is diabetic.

While their unlocked vehicle was located down the road from their residence on the same day, their dog a “small white Shih Tzu” named Cuddles, is also missing.

Marinelli, who has been friends with Stephenie and Daniel for over a decade, told KCBS-TV: “I just want them back.”

“They don’t deserve this. … They’re just good people, they go to church, they don’t deserve any of this,” she said.
