Selena Gomez grants her fans’ wishes — all they have to do is ask!

The Only Murders in the Building star, 32, shared on Instagram on Saturday, Aug. 31, that she sang the national anthem at a recent volleyball game at a high school in Telluride. She was in the Colorado town for the 2024 Telluride Film Festival promoting her movie Emilia Pérez — and couldn’t say no after fans created a sign asking her to sing for them.

“They asked!! Couldn’t help it, it’s my first time in Telluride!” Gomez captioned the post.

The first photo in the set was of a bright orange note pinned to a bulletin board and addressed to the “Single Soon” singer. “Selena Gomez, Please sing the National Anthem @ one of [our] home games,” the note read. It was decorated with hearts and included a coach’s email.

Although the post didn’t include footage of Gomez singing, there was a video of the star walking into the school’s gym as someone screamed her name.

“I saw the sign and so I had to come,” she told a crowd of people as they laughed and gravitated toward her. Gomez took a group photo with the team and signed autographs in a crowded hallway.

Gomez’s fellow celebrities commended her high school visit. “The kindest heart indeed 🥹,” Zoe Saldaña wrote. “This is so sweet ❤️,” Ashley Park added. Gomez’s boyfriend Benny Blanco commented: “❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍.”

The multi-hyphenate appeared at the Telluride Film Festival on behalf of her recently released Netflix film Emilia Pérez, a musical comedy and crime film from director Jacques Audiard about a lawyer in Mexico who receives an unexpected offer to help a “feared cartel boss retire from his business and disappear forever by becoming the woman he’s always dreamed of being,” per the film’s synopsis.

Emilia Pérez also stars Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Edgar Ramírez and is streaming on Netflix.
