Police said investigators determined there was no ongoing threat to the public, as the incident was “isolated” and the parties were “known to each other.” They also confirmed that no firearms were involved in the attack, despite earlier reports.
While no further details about the attack have been released at this time, police said that on the evening of Sunday, Feb. 16, 19-year-old Alan Aba (also known as Alena Aba) was taken into custody and charged with one count of first-degree murder.
Aba is a native of Westwood, New Jersey, which is less than 30 minutes away from the murder scene.
He is currently being held at the Rockland County Jail following an arraignment in front of Honorable Judge Sweet.
The arrangement was a multi-agency effort as the police department thanked many local agencies including the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department, Spring Hill Ambulance Corp. and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
