Teenager, 17, ‘who had her life ahead of her’ killed in car crash as tributes paid

The devastated family of Chelsea Gillie, who was near to turning 18, have paid tribute to her after she was killed when the she was travelling in crashed into a tree earlier this week

Chelsea Gillie, 17, was a passenger in the vehicle when the accident happened in Northumberland at 8.30pm on Monday.

Chelsea was rushed to hospital but sadly died on Thursday surrounded by her family, reported Chronicle Live.

The teenager’s family said in a statement: “Chelsea was a daughter, sister and friend who was taken too soon from all those who loved her.

“She had her whole life ahead of her. Sleep tight and rest in peace baby girl.”

The 18-year-old driver was arrested but has been released pending enquiries 

The driver of the vehicle was also taken to hospital but he did not suffer any serious injuries.
