The UK has suffered a huge jump in hospital coronavirus deaths on the same day MPs vote on whether to impose a second lockdown in England, which will come into force tomorrow

England suffered 302 fatalities, Scotland announced 50, while Wales recorded 44 and Northern Ireland had 10 in the highest daily increase since May.

The patients who died in England were aged between 13 and 100 and all but 12 of them – aged 56 to 99 – had known underlying health conditions.

It comes after Keir Starmer today slammed Boris Johnson during PMQs over his delay in introducing a ‘circuit break’ to cut spiking infections.

The Labour leader, who called for a ‘circuit break’ on October 13, pointed out that Government advisers recommended a temporary shutdown on September 21 – when 11 coronavirus deaths were announced.
