The UK’s terror level threat is to be upgraded to ‘severe’ in the wake of the deadly attack in Vienna.

Home Secretary Priti Patel announced the change in a tweet, as she warned people to stay vigilant.

The alert level means an attack is ‘highly likely.’

The move follows the attackers’ deadly gun rampage that killed four and wounded many more the night before Austria was about to head into a second national lockdown.

It also comes in the wake of bloodshed in France.

Ms Patel wrote this afternoon that the terror threat level for the UK would move from ‘substantial’ to ‘severe.’
