WE SEE JUST AS MUCH AS YOU

I stare at them and pretend to not understand
I look elsewhere when I noticed that I am being observed
I pretend to have no knowledge of what is going on
And they buy it every single time.

Out of ignorance or negligence, they pass on to me knowledge of how life is
They, adults around me, lack knowledge in regards to my assimilation
They look at me and see innocence, one that shouldn’t be tainted, yet
Yet, they taint my innocence themselves
They show me the truth and try to hide it with words.

Isn’t it foolish to say something and do the opposite of what has been said
If that is foolishness, then aren’t adults foolish?
Why preach what you can’t possibly do and still expect others to do as you’ve asked
Why do you feel we should do what’s right and you can’t possibly do such
We are kids, yes. But we aren’t retards, we aren’t toys but humans.

We see, we hear and believe me, we act according to what we’ve seen
The difference between us, “Adults and kids” is simply age
I can assimilate as much things as you can and I know no bounds, yet you do
I make decisions without putting into consideration the consequences, so do you some times than most
If you want us to be upright, then act upright
For we see as much as you do
Live right, if you want us to be the light.
