Wendy Williams is continuing to express her desire for “freedom.”
On Friday, March 21, the former talk show host, 60 — who was placed under a legal guardianship in 2022 and announced her dementia diagnosis in 2023 — continued her streak of refuting claims that she is incapacitated.
After dining at Michael’s, a New York City restaurant, Williams told The New York Post’s Page Six, “I am fabulous,” before adding, “I’m better than good, but have been accused [of] being otherwise.”
“I am very much alive,” she continued. “I deserve freedom, darling.”

Williams did not respond to any other questions, except one about her figure, telling the outlet, “I got the liposuction and breast implants when I was 31. I’m 60 now and my body’s holding up well.”
And, when asked about her guardianship, her caretaker, Ginalisa Monterroso, told Page Six, “Don’t believe everything you read.”
Williams has made several public appearances in the Big Apple since she was taken from her assisted living facility to the hospital by ambulanceon Monday, March 10, amid her ongoing guardianship battle.
The former Wendy Williams Show host was removed from the facility after dropping a note out of her window that allegedly read, “Help! Wendy!!” per The New York Post.
At the time, the New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to PEOPLE that authorities responded to a welfare check on Williams at the facility, and she was then escorted into an ambulance and taken to a local hospital “for evaluation.”

Williams subsequently appeared on Good Day New York and announced that she “passed” the mental competency test at the hospital “with flying colors.” During the interview, she also said the “most important thing” to her was “getting out of guardianship.”
The former TV personality claims the guardianship has alienated her from her loved ones and left her without access to her finances or her health records.
Monterrosa, who was with Williams at the hospital on March 11, echoed this, telling the outlet that the tests had “deemed she is not incapacitated,” which Williams’ guardian also claimed in a November 2024 filing.

The star has also been vocal about wanting to leave the N.Y.C. facility’s memory care unit she is currently staying at, calling it “suffocating.”
“I am not cognitively impaired but I feel like I am in prison,” Williams said while appearing on The Breakfast Club alongside niece Finnie in January. “I’m in this place with people who are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s. These people, there’s something wrong with these people here on this floor. I am clearly not.”
In the same appearance, Williams also said that she is unable to come and go as she pleases. She also alleged that she is unaware of what medications the facility is administering to her.
