West Yorkshire cities and towns, including Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield, will be placed under strict new coronavirus measures from Monday morning as the region battles spiking Covid-19 infections
West Yorkshire will be placed under Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions from Monday morning.
The region, which includes Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield, will be subject to the country’s toughest Covid-19 restrictions as a result of the change.
Tonight’s decision plunges another 2.3million people into Tier 3 lockdown – bringing the total number hit by the tightest restrictions in England to 11million.
Pubs and bars will now be forced to close in West Yorkshire unless they serve ‘substantial’ meals, along with a range of other restrictions.
Casinos, betting shops and soft play areas are just some of the other businesses that will have to shut, although gyms can remain open.
Under the restrictions, people have been told to avoid leaving or entering the region, unless they need to for work, education, caring responsibilities or if they are travelling through.
