A McDonald’s employee will hold her wedding reception at her work after her original venue cancelled twice because of coronavirus.

Melissa Russell will head to the McDonald’s restaurant in Motherwell, near Glasgow, Scotland, after marrying her fiancée Shannon McKenna.

The 27-year-old, who has worked at the branch for the last six years, is in a race against time to arrange a venue due to her father’s failing health, the Daily Record reports.

McDonald’s franchise owner Kate Walker came to the rescue after agreeing to host their reception at her restaurant after the couple get married on Saturday.

Melissa said: “We’re so grateful to Kate for hosting us and our small party on such a special day.

“It’s not the day we’d imagined, but we’re over the moon to be spending the reception at the Motherwell restaurant. It will certainly be one to remember.
