56 Nigerians who were stranded in Pakistan due to the Coronavirus pandemic, have been evacuated to Nigeria. They arrived in the country this afternoon Friday, June 19.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffery Onyeama, who disclosed this on his Twitter handle, wrote

”Eventually, 56 Nigerians and 4 Pakistanis were safely evacuated from Islamabad to Abuja on a chartered aircraft operated by TARCO AVIATION Co. Ltd.”

300 Nigerians were also evacuated from Dubai and arrived in Nigeria today, June 19. A tweet from the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission announcing their arrival reads;

”300 Stranded Nigerians in UAE landed in Abuja, Nigeria today, Friday 19th June 2020 via  @emirates. All Evacuees are to go on Compulsory 14 days SELF ISOLATION according to the new Protocol by the Presidential Task Force on #Covid_19 ”

 This brings to 1, 794 the number of Nigerians that have been evacuated back home since the global lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
