Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer has now slammed the President over his failure to thoroughly condemn right wing hate groups, accusing him of “giving comfort to those who spread fear”.
A total of 13 people were detained by police over the extraordinary plan – which also initially included storming the state capitol building in Lansing with a 200-strong ‘army’.
The alleged plotters would then have taken hostages, a criminal complaint said.
The domestic terror group are accused of eventually settling on snatching Democrat Whitmer from her holiday home after she traded barbs with Republican Trump over her response to the pandemic, ahead of the November election
