Suspected armed herdsmen have reportedly hacked three farmers to death at Ogbaulu community in Agatu Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue State.

It was gathered that the victims were murdered Friday afternoon in their farms by the marauders who sneaked into the community from neighbouring Apa LGA.

The caretaker chairman of Agatu LGA, Mr. Yakubu Ochepo, who confirmed the killings, explained that two of the victims were indigenes of Agatu while the third was from Apa LGA.

According to him, “the attack took place on Friday afternoon when the three victims were working at their various farms in the community.

“The armed herdsmen came through our border community with Apa LGA. They attacked and hacked the victims to death right on their farms.”

The chairman, who decried the latest killings, lamented the ceaseless attacks on Agatu communities by armed herdsmen despite all efforts to end the mindless attacks.

He appealed to both the state and Federal Governments to take decisive action to end the carnage by deploying more security personnel to Agatu to check the activities of the killer herdsmen in the LGA.

Efforts to reach the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, were unsuccessful.
