Elphaba and Glinda are bringing the glamor everywhere they go — even the Super Bowl LVIIl! Wicked co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande fully embraced their musical characters on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, rocking custom Louis Vuitton sequin jerseys in honor of the highly anticipated musical adaptation’s first trailer.
Erivo, 37, sported an emerald green jersey dress with a pink stripe and thigh-high black boots. Her look had her character’s name, Elphaba, across the back. Grande, 30, rocked Simon G earrings and a pink jersey dress with a matching green stripe and knee-high black boots with her character, Glinda’s, name across the back.
The “thank u next” singer posted a shot of the matching looks to her Instagram Story, teasing, “I truly hope you are all ready for this press tour.”
Grande and Erivo watched the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers, posting videos together in the stands during the game.
Wicked comes to theaters this Thanksgiving, and is directed by Crazy Rich Asians filmmaker Jon M. Chu. In addition to Erivo and Grande, the musical stars Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Bowen Yang, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater and more. Wicked will be split into two parts with the second one expected to be released Nov. 26, 2025.
During the 2024 Super Bowl on Sunday, the first official trailer for the movie was released, showing Chu’s vision for the Emerald City, the colorful cast of characters, and more.
The original hit Broadway musical was released in 2003 and starred Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth in the lead roles. It is based off the 1995 book, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire.
