Asda is launching a new drive-thru flu jab service for extremely vulnerable people at risk of catching Coronavirus.

The supermarket giant said staff at 13 pharmacy branches will be offering flu jabs to pregnant and elderly people from car parks across the UK.

The service, which launches on Thursday, will be offered free-of-charge to anyone eligible for a free NHS flu jab – this includes elderly people, pregnant women, those with underlying health conditions and frontline health workers, including carers.

It said the service will allow them to get vaccinated without coming into contact with the public.

Maq Din, lead pharmacist at Asda Pharmacy, said: “The sad truth is that there is an increased mortality risk if you catch COVID-19 when you already have the flu.

“As a result  some of our most vulnerable members of society are at twice the risk compared to others, which is why we are encouraging everyone to get a flu jab this year; it is more vital now than ever.”

Customers can book a slot by entering their postcode online, here. Once booked, you’ll be given a time slot and a bay to park in on your visit.
