A two-month-old baby has been killed by the family dog as she slept near her parents.

The little girl was asleep in an electronic swing next to her parents bed when the German Shepherd launched the “vicious” attack at their home in Virginia, US.

A police statement said the parents were woken up by a “large amount of motion”.

The mum called emergency services who rushed to the scene at around 3am but sadly the infant was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile the dad took the dog outside and shot him dead.
