The nurse charged with murdering eight babies looked tearful as she was denied bail.

Lucy Letby looked up at her parents and mouthed “I love you” as she was remanded in custody and led down to the cells.

And as the 30-year-old left the court her mum made a heart sign with her hands.

Susan, 60, and John Letby, 77, from Hereford, had been watching proceedings from a public gallery at Chester crown court.

The bereaved families of her alleged victims were also watching by video conferencing.

The case was adjourned until next week for legal submissions and then to February 19, 2021.
