Some Nigerian entertainers have been nominated for international awards for their outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.

Burna Boy, Asake and Rema were nominated for the 2024 Britz Awards.

While Burna and Asake made the ‘Best International Artiste’ category, ‘Calm Down’, the hit song by Rema, was nominated in the ‘Best International Song’ category.

Similarly, Ayra Starr and Omah Lay each earned nominations, while Asake and Olamide shared one nomination for the song, ‘Amapiano’.

Burna also earned multiple nominations at the 2024 National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People Awards, alongside Davido.

The 55th edition of the NAACP Image Awards, an annual ceremony in the United States of America that honours outstanding representations and achievements of people of colour in film, television, theatre, music, and literature, will hold in March 2024 in Los Angeles. 

Burna Boy got five nominations, including ‘Outstanding Male Artiste,’ ‘Outstanding International Song,’ ‘Outstanding Hip-Hop/Rap Song,’ ‘Outstanding Duo, Group/Collaboration,’ and ‘Outstanding Album’ for his last album, ‘I Told Them’.

Davido also got four nominations, including ‘Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album’, ‘Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary),’ ‘Outstanding International Song’ for his song, ‘Unavailable’; and ‘Outstanding Male Artiste’.

Tems who was nominated in the ‘Outstanding Female Artiste’, will also be honoured at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards.

In another development, two Nigerian films were selected to be featured in the upcoming 2024 Pan African Film Festival.

The two films— ‘Mojisola’ and ‘This is Lagos’— directed by filmmaker Kenneth Gyang, will be showcased at the film festival which holds in Los Angeles, from February 6 to 19, 2024.
