Shocking footage from Edmonton in north London shows a car which has rammed into a police station before a man sets the road a blaze with flammable liquid

A car has crashed into a police station in the UK capital tonight before the road was set ablaze – with witnesses reporting an “attack”.

Metropolitan Police said a man in his 40s has been arrested after the shocking incident, which saw a car plough into Edmonton police station in north London before a man got out and doused the street in a flammable liquid.

Multiple people reported the man failed to ram through the doors of the station in Fore Street before then setting things alight with fluid from a container around 7pm.

Police confirmed one man was arrested, with the police station cordoned off and evacuated as onlookers watched on in horror.

He was apprehended and arrested by officerson suspicion of arson and a number of other offences, police added.

Footage posted on Twitter shows a man pouring flammable liquid on the road and then, while standing in front of a double-decker bus, he sets the road on fire.

Witnesses can be heard shouting as a police car pulls up and officers run out to tackle the man at a bus stop metres away.
