Health bosses have reportedly said that the rolling circuit breaker lockdowns could be imposed in large parts of the country if coronavirus infections continue to rise

Parts of England could face on-off ‘circuit breaker’ lockdowns under a new “pump the brakes” strategy, it is reported.

Health bosses have reportedly said that the rolling circuit breaker lockdowns could be imposed in large parts of the country if infections continue to rise following the end of the national lockdown on December 2.

It is planned that after England emerges from national restrictions, there will be a return to the tier system, although it could be changed slightly.

But a source has claimed there could be even tougher measures.

The source “familiar with the discussions” told The Sun : “They were talking about their new strategy for when Boris Johnson goes back to regional measures.

“They said they may need two or three circuit breakers at incremental periods.
