Friends and family had gathered at the furniture factory in the Mill Hill district of Blackburn, in Lancashire, before trying to hide from police who raided the event on Monday

Friends and family had gathered at the furniture factory in the Mill Hill district of Blackburn, in Lancashire, on Monday.

Lancashire Police said they raided the wedding reception to find guests had travelled from as far as Inverness, Scotland, and London for the nuptials.

But when officers arrived they all tried to flee, forcing unimpressed police to track them down in the building like “a game of hide-and-seek”.

Police said the party had lighting, glittery backdrops, a dancefloor and even a buffet for the 29 guests.

Earlier this month, Blackburn had the second highest infection rate in the country

Sgt Steve Dundon, of Lancashire Police, said the party was a “slap in the face” to those following lockdown rules.
