A coronavirus patient who admits he did not take Covid-19 seriously before contracting the virus described it as an “evil thing” that is “trying to drown you.”

Trevor Jones, 57, gave a stark warning to others about Covid-19 after he was left fighting for his life in a hospital bed and gasping for breath just days after contracting the disease.

The business owner, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, said he thought he would never catch coronavirus and did not realise how much of an impact it could have on him.

Now recovering from the virus, Trevor is still out of breath just brushing his teeth and described his illness as “the worst time of my life by far.”

Speaking toManchester Evening News, he said: “It’s an evil thing and it feels like it’s trying to drown you. You’re fighting non-stop and you feel like if you don’t fight you’re going to die.
