The Kogi State National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by Dino Melaye challenging the election of Smart Adeyemi as winner of Kogi West Senatorial re-run election in Kogi State which held on November 16, 2019.

Delivering judgment in the petition today Wednesday, June 10, the tribunal led by Justice Kashim Kaigama, said Melaye failed to prove how the election was rigged in favor of Adeyemi. 

Consequently, the petition was dismissed for lacking in merit.

Melaye had argued he was the authentic winner of the election and had asked the court to declare him winner having scored the highest number of valid votes.

Reacting to the judgment, Melaye in a video shared online, said he will be heading to the Court of Appeal

Verdict has been given at the tribunal of Kogi West Senatorial district in favor of Senator Smart Adeyemi. We actually did not expect judgement at this level. But we know that bu=y the grace of God will get justice at the Court of Appeal. This temporry victory is temporary and evaporative
