A photograph has emerged of Martin Bashir carrying a takeaway bag after the broadcaster said he was too ill to respond to recent allegations about his Princess Diana interview

A photograph has emerged of Martin Bashir carrying a takeaway bag after the BBC said he was too ill to respond to accusations about his infamous Princess Diana interview.

Diana’s brother Earl Spencer claimed he was shown false financial documents by Bashir so that the then Panorama reporter could gain access to Diana in 1995.

A new photo, taken on Friday evening, appears to show Bashir walking to his north London home carrying a bag from an Indian takeaway.

In a statement given to Sky News, the BBC previously said that they would “get to the bottom” of the accusations swirling around the interview.

The statement also confirmed 57-year-old Bashir is still signed off work and not yet in a position to respond to the claims.
