EXCLUSIVE: Ellie Whittaker was advised to have an abortion when it was discovered she had stage two Hodgkin Lymphoma, but even though it would put her own health at risk, she put her baby first

Ellie Whittaker’s pregnancy joy was shattered into a million pieces when doctors told her
she had cancer.

Medics advised her to have an abortion and warned that chemotherapy could harm her unborn baby.

But the mum-to-be knew straight away what she needed to do – even though it would put her own health at further risk.

Ellie told the Sunday People: “There was no chance on this planet I was going to abort my baby.

“I pushed the cancer as far from my mind as I could and focused on Connie. I couldn’t wait to be a mum.”

Ellie was 16 weeks pregnant – and hugely excited about motherhood – when she was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin Lymphoma in August 2019.

She had previously suffered a miscarriage and couldn’t face the pain of missing out on a baby again.null138208749653
