A mum has been sent a shock £20,000 bill from her employer for a payroll error it made in 2009.

Leah Francis says she received a letter from her employer earlier this year claiming she’s been on the wrong salary for more than a decade.

The employee, who has worked for the company since 2004, said her salary fell when she went on maternity leave in 2009, however it’s now emerged that the firm made a huge payroll error.

It claims she’s been overpaid by £250 a month for 10 years – and now wants the full amount back.

“In 2009, I went on maternity leave for one year,” Leah told 360APROKO.

“Before my last day of work, I submitted a request to change my working contract from full time to term time.
