This Morning host Ruth Langsford spoke of her devastation as she can only visit her elderly mum in a care home through a window and with a walkie talkie

Coronavirus restrictions have meant many people have not been able to physically touch their loved ones who are in care.

Ruth, 60, was only able to speak to her mother Joan via a walkie talkie and they were separated by a window.

Ruth said: “I have to say, I am in the same boat as many people, yesterday I was visiting my mum in her assisted living home.

Ruth opened up on the difficulty of not being able to touch your loved ones

“I was sitting outside talking to her through the window with a walkie talkie.”

“This torture, this mental anguish goes on for so many families who just can’t get there to an elderly relative,” said Eamonn.

Guest Nina Ambrose appeared on the show and explained to Ruth and co host Eamonn Holmes that she began volunteering in a care home so she could see her elderly father, Roger.
