Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary became irate on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Breakfast programme when host Rachel Burden brought up complaints from listeners who claim they are still waiting for a refund

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary erupted in anger and accused customers of lying during a furious radio rant over flight refunds.

The CEO of Europe’s largest budget airline became irate when BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast host Rachel Burden brought up complaints from listeners who claim they are still waiting for a refund for flights affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the testy exchange, Mr O’Leary repeatedly shouted over Ms Burden and insisted every customer who asked for their money back between March and August has received it.

It came as Mr O’Leary confirmed Ryanair customers will not be refunded for flights in November despite the UK Government banning non-essential travel.

In the past, the chief executive, who was once on Forbes’ billionaire list, told refund-hunters to “f*** off” and called his passengers “stupid”, but in recent years the no-frills airline has shifted to a kinder approach to customer service.
